Flex 4 Free ??

January 31, 2006

There have been several reports of a free flex server being released and they are true as confirmed by the links below. Basically what we are talking about is a free compiler and sdk. The details have not been released yet (like what data connections will be included, web services, http, remote objects, etc). What we do know is that everything needed to compile a flex application will be included. This is really great news for the proliferation of flex so we say bravo to Adobe!!

Also, there will be a single server license of flex enterprise services which will be free and allow a limited number of connections. How many ? We don’t know yet but again it will certainly help expand the flex market penetration. This is very important with the pending release of Windows Vista and it’s competing RIA tools.

The news above has been confirmed by Christian Cantrell , Danny Dura , and Mark Anders

Tomorrow (Wednesday 2/1/06) will mark the delivery of the new Flex 2 beta available at Macromedia Labs which also means that we will now be able to post Flex 2 beta sample code at EverythingFlex as well as IFBIN.
